Energy-Saving Home Improvements Can Cut Your Taxes

Tax season is over – so get proactive and start thinking about next year’s taxes!

The federal government encourages taxpayers to make their homes more energy efficient by offering credits for things like installing insulation, new windows or doors and qualified heating and cooling systems. Certain alternative energy sources, like solar panels, also are eligible for tax credits.

If you’ve been thinking of upgrading the energy efficiency of your home, this may be the time to do it while saving on your taxes. Make sure to keep your receipts for next tax season. Call your accountant or tax advisor for details.
