Thursday Thought

How much of your budget goes to support brand-name advertising?

Sometimes, a brand name really does make a difference. Other times, you’re just paying for the advertising of the company that sells a product that is manufactured under the same roof as the identical generic product.

It’s not easy to identify just how much of your budget is going toward advertising because that money spent is being categorized as ‘clothing,’ ‘groceries,’ ‘household’ or whatever. Keep a careful eye on the brand names you pay for. Compare brands of orange juice or tissues while shopping. Bring both the generic and brand name home and see if you really can tell the difference.
